Abstract of doctoral thesis Giannoulakis Konstantinos

Biomass and bio-waste play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions in the European energy mix, with the latter contributing to the shift towards a circular economy. Specifically, Refuse Derived Fuel (RFD) - a renewable fuel derived from the dried waste residue - presents itself as a highly intriguing energy alternative. This work intends to evaluate the environmental impact of electricity generation from refuse-derived fuel (RDF) by comparing distinct methods of RDF synthesis and combustion.
