"High Power Microwaves and Gaseous Plasma formation"
The PhD thesis project entitled “High Power Microwaves and Gaseous Plasma formation” aimsto conduct theoretical and experimental studies regarding the electrical and chemical properties of gases in the presence of high power microwave fields that will ignite gaseous ionization and plasma formation.
In particular, the proposed research project aims to exploit the scientific findings from the above mentioned theoretical and experimental studies for potential use: a) in Gas Discharge Tubes that may be used as plasma switching units in high power microwave devices such as microwave pulse compression cavities and b) in development of non-thermal plasma (NTP) gas exhaust treatment for engine pollution abatement.
