Abstract of doctoral thesis - Artemis Zachmanoglou

Electric vehicles measurements and smart grids

The course of electric and hybrid vehicles is characterized by critical dates-stations in the construction and circulation of electric cars from 1839 to today. In this dissertation, initially, a bibliographic review of hybrid vehicle technology issues will be made. Then, hybrid power transmission systems and classification of hybrid vehicles based on their energy source will be studied. At the same time, electrical engineering applications in automotive with an emphasis on the ways of charging electric vehicles, the types and the connection of the vehicle to the grid, will be examined. Finally, the focus will be on developing Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications focusing on Smart Grid and technologies related to this technology.
